Juventus in CL group of death, balanced draw for Real, Barcelona

Monaco, Aug 28 (IANS): The draw for the European Champions League group stage, which took place here, has placed defending champions Barcelona in the relatively balanced Group E, with Bayer Leverkusen, Roma and BATE Borisov.

Meanwhile, last season's runners-up Juventus found themselves in the less forgiving group of death, group D, pitted against Manchester City, Sevilla and Borussia Moenchengladbach, Efe reported on Thursday.

Thursday's draw for the Champions League group stage:

Group A: Paris Saint-Germain (France), Real Madrid (Spain), Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine) and Malmo (Sweden).

Group B: PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands), Manchester United (England), CSKA Moscow (Russia) and Wolfsburg (Germany).

Group C: Benfica (Portugal), Atletico Madrid (Spain), Galatasaray (Turkey) and Astana (Kazakhstan).

Group D: Juventus (Italy), Manchester City (England), Sevilla (Spain) and Borussia Moenchengladbach (Germany).

Group E: Barcelona (Spain), Bayer Leverkusen (Germany), Roma (Italy) and BATE Borisov (Belarus).

Group F: Bayern Munich (Germany), Arsenal (England), Olympiakos (Greece) and Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia).

Group G: Chelsea (England), Porto (Portugal), Dynamo Kiev (Ukraine) and Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel).

Group H: Zenit St. Petersburg (Russia), Valencia (Spain), Lyon (France) and Gent (Belgium).
