Margao, Jun 21: Konkani Railway Corporation's dream of the Sky Bus project remains a dream, and now its fate hangs on an Act that has to be passed by the Parliament to govern the technology before its commercial use.

KRC managing director Dr K K Gokhale said that unless and until the Parliament passes the Act related to Sky Bus Technology, it will not be available for commercial use.

He also said that the union cabinet has informally cleared a proposal to bring in legislation, but the bill is yet to be placed before the Parliament.

Gokhale reiterated that till now KRC has invested Rs 50 crore on this project, and another Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned from the centre to tune up the technology and for further pending work.

Railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, along with his wife Rabri Devi had visited the project site in September 2006. He had given his nod for the project and had said that the Sky Bus will become a reality soon. But  Gokhale hinted that it will take some more time to see the Sky Bus running in Goa.

Gokhale further said that KRC will be planting 40,000 medicinal plants along the Konkan belt, and around 15,000 of them will be planted in Margao alone.
