Panaji, Jun 21: Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat on Tuesday left for Delhi to meet Congress leaders, to get their approval for the cabinet expansion.

The two-week old Kamat-led coalition government is waiting for the cabinet expansion though the four-member ministry is already in place.

Kamat had stated that he would expand the cabinet by mid-this week.

The chief minister's office confirmed that Kamat has left for Delhi this morning, and is to meet party leaders during his visit to the national capital.

With only eight berths out of 12 left to be distributed, Kamat has an uneasy task of fulfilling the aspirations of all the coalition members.

Congress banking on the support of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and two independents has formed the Kamat-led government in the state.

NCP, which has cededthe dyCM's post, has asked for ministerial posts to all its legislators.

MGP, too, has sought a better share in the cabinet.

The most difficult task would be to accommodate Vishwajit, an independent legislator and son of speaker Pratapsingh Rane, who played a key role in the formation of  the government.

Vishwajit, who earlier successfully contested Valpoi constituency, had lobbied for Kamat to be the CM and is having cordial relations with MGP.
