Margao, Jun 18: Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat has asked status report of Garbage Treatment Plant work, which was sanctioned by SUDA at Sonsodo dumping yard for Rs 7.84 crore, with Hyderabad-based company "Hyquip'.

Hyquip Company who has taken this project has failed to complete the work on time. Earlier Hyquip officials had told that the project would be completed by first week of March, 2007. But almost three months are passed and not even the first phase of the project has not been completed.

Kamat paid his first visit to the project site and inquired with Hyquip officials about the delay in the installation of plant and machinery, and said that they should submit the status report within three days.

According to the sources in Margao Municipal Mouncil, the delay was also because the MMC inspector did not pay attention to this project and never asked for status report, which was to be submitted once in fortnight.
Erstwhile urban development minister and present MLA of Cuncolim Joquim Alemao, had told that he would visit the site every alternative day till the time it comes it is installed.  But he also failed to do so.

To keep away woes related to garbage in the city, he has sanctioned three garbage compactors and 300 bins at a cost of Rs 77 lac. Besides this 66 workers at the disposal of the civic body for this work.
