Rio de Janeiro, Aug 23 (IANS): Ronaldinho will be rested for Fluminense's away clash with Joinville on Sunday as he continues to regain match fitness, the Brazilian club said.
The 2002 World Cup winner has played four matches since making his Fluminense debut on August 2.
But the Rio de Janeiro outfit are wary of asking too much of the 35-year-old, who has not played regulator football since May.
"He needs more time to recover all of his muscle glycogen," Xinhua reported quoting Fluminense's fitness coach Flavio Vignoli.
Despite Ronaldinho's absence, Fluminense will be boosted on Sunday by the inclusion of striker Fred, who has recovered from a thigh injury.
