Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Aug 21 (IANS): Mercedes' Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg beat teammate Lewis Hamilton in the second practice session at the Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgian Grand Prix here on Friday, despite a very scary high-speed rear tyre puncture.
The incident happened just over an hour into the 90 minute session and left an unhurt Rosberg stranded, having luckily avoided the barriers after the right-rear tyre of his car punctured at high speed.
Behind the two Mercedes cars was the Red Bull team's Daniel Ricciardo, followed by team mate Daniil Kvyat.
Next up was Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari in the fifth spot, followed by the Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg in sixth, and the Lotus’s Romain Grosjean in seventh.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel finished in tenth position ahead of Force India's Sergio Perez.
Rosberg set the pace and maintained his momentum while Hamilton remained in his shadow throughout the race.
