Mysore, June 16: Infosys has clearly said that it is not possible for them to provide employment to Kannadigas as recommended by the Sarojini Mahishi's report. Since jobs are not provided in Infosys on the basis of language, question of appointing Kannadigas does not arise, the General Manager of Infosys has said. This issue came up for discussion at the progress review held at the auditorium of Zilla Panchayat here recently.
M.B. Vishwanath, member of the Kannada Development Authority, opposed the statement of Infosys in not appointing Kannadigas, when the State Government has provided all the facilities to them.
Shivakumar, Joint Director of District Industries Centre, disclosed that the Dy. Commissioner had written a letter to Infosys asking them to provide information on the implementation of Sarojini Mahishi's report. In reply, Infosys said that since jobs in Infosys are provided based on the merit, question of appointing persons on the basis of language does not arise and added that they have not kept records about the number of Kannadiga employees.
Vishwanath, who was not satisfied with the statement of the Joint Director, urged the District Administration to take necessary action in this regard.
He further said that this matter is being brought to the notice of Siddalingaiah, Chairman, Kannada Development Authority, who is visiting the city shortly.
K. Marigowda, Vice-President Zilla Panchayat, disclosed that the Joint Director of District Industries Centre, who was asked to check the records of the company, was not allowed inside the Infosys campus.
