Berlin, Aug 21 (IANS): Greek defender Kostantinos Stafylidis moved from Bayer Leverkusen to league rivals FC Augsburg, both Bundesliga clubs confirmed in official statements.
Stafylidis, who played on loan at Premier League outfit FC Fulham last season, has inked a two-year contract that keeps him with the "Fuggerstaedter" until June 2017.
"Konstantinos Stafylidis is a young player who already earned international experiences due to his time in England and with the Greek national team. We are sure he can develop further with us," Xinhua quoted Augsburg's sporting director Stefan Reuter as saying on Thursday.
Stafylidis made five international caps for Greece's national team.
"I am delighted that my transfer worked out because I hope for more match practice in the Bundesliga. I want to help the team with my qualities and to improve myself," the new arrival said.
After the 1-0 loss to Hertha Berlin in the first round of Bundesliga, Augsburg encounter Eintracht Franfkurt for the second round on Saturday.
