Round 3 of National Karting in Coimbatore


Coimbatore, Aug 20 (IANS): After two exciting rounds, the 12th JK Tyre-FMSCI National Rotax Karting Championship will now travel to Coimbatore for the third round, scheduled to take place at the Kari Motor Speedway on August 22-23.

The qualifying and heats will be held on Saturday while the pre-final and final races will be held on Sunday. Over 40 young karters will be seen competing in Round 3 where the karts will run on the new Evo Max engines -- a new introduction this year.

The first two rounds was held at the new Chicane circuit in Hyderabad. Agra's Shahan Ali Mohsin (Team Meco Racing) in Micro Max category, Mohammed Nallawalla from Mumbai (Team Rayo Racing) in Junior Max category and Ricky Donison from Bengaluru (Team BPC) in Senior Max category are leading the overall championship points table.

Shaha, Ruhaan Alwa, Arjun Nair, Mrinal Chatterjee, Vishnu Prasad, Ameya Bafna and Chittesh Mandody will again take to the track this weekend. This round will also see three Sri Lankan karters in action in the Junior Max and Senior Max categories.

The six teams participating are Rayo Racing (Mumbai), Meco Racing (Chennai), Mohite's Racing (Kolhapur), BPC Racing (Bengaluru), Erda Racing (Baroda) and Dark Don Racing (Chennai). The drivers, representing the six teams, will be divided in three categories: Micro Max (7-12 years), Junior Max (13-15) and Senior Max (15 and above).

The championship winners are selected to represent the country in the Rotax Max World Finals every year.
