Mangalore, Jun 15: The centenary year celebrations of St Lawrence Higher Primary School at Bondel here were inaugurated on Thursday June 14.
Speaking on the occasion, St Lawrence Church, Bondel priest Fr Antony Serrao said that students, parents and members of the public should come forward to contribute towards the funds for centenary celebrations which will continue till the end of the year.
Narrating the history of the school, he said that the school had begun with just 25 students and today has a student strength of 680.
The programme was inaugurated by Catholic Education Board secretary Fr Wilson D’Souza.
Advertisement slots for souvenir to mark the centenary year were released by Fr Serrao while corporator Hilda Alva released lucky draw coupons on the occasion.
An entertaining cultural programme was presented by the students which included a play on one of Kuvempu’s works.
Among those present were principals of the school Denis D’Souza and Monica Pinto, Church administrator Rudolph Pinto and others.
