Special court grants Mohanty bail


Panaji, Aug 18 (TOI): A special court on Monday granted conditional bail to former Louis Berger International Inc vice-president Satyakam Mohanty in the Louis Berger bribery case.

Mohanty who was arrested on August 3, had filed a bail application on August 7 which the court granted him on Monday.

Mohanty's counsel, advocate Satish Pilgaonkar, said that his client is directed to furnish a personnel bond 1 lakh with one solvent surety.

He added that the other conditions are that Mohanty not leave the state for a month without the permission of the court. Mohanty has to report to the investigation team as and when required.

"Mohanty should not directly or indirectly interfere with the investigation and any person acquainted with the investigation," Pilgaonkar added.

During the hearing of the bail application, senior counsel appearing of behalf of Mohanty, Majeed Menon, had said the police have not objected to his client's bail application.

Menon had said that Mohanty is cooperating with the investigation agency and was willing to become a witness in the case.
