Paris, Aug 16 (IANS): Claudio Beauvue, who joined French football club Lyon in the summer from Guingamp, refused to celebrate after scoring against his old club on his debut for Les Gones as a second-half substitute in a Ligue 1 away match.
The 27-year-old striker came off the bench in the 63rd mintue and took advantage of a defensive mix-up to head in a right-wing cross from midfielder Jordan Ferri (79th minute), which gave Lyon a 1-0 victory at the Stade Municipal de Roudourou on Saturday, reports Xinhua.
Beauvue, who played most of his role as a winger in Guingamp, scored 27 goals for his old team last season, including 17 league goals before he signed with Lyon on July 1.
The win helped Lyon move up to the fourth place provisionally on four points. Guingamp stay on the penultimate position among 20 teams.
Caen came out the only team having secured a second straight win in the league as defender Damien Da Silva headed the only goal of the game (70th) to beat Toulouse 1-0 at home.
Henri Saivet's stoppage-time free kick denied St. Etienne three points as Bordeaux salvaged a 1-1 draw in dramatic fashion.
Romain Hamouma finished off a fine team move just before the hour mark to give Les Verts the lead and that had looked set to give the hosts their first victory of the season.
However, Bordeaux, who were beaten in the opening round, came away with something thanks to Saivet's smart set-piece from the edge of the area late on.
Thiago Xavier scored a stoppage-time equaliser as 10-man Troyes rescued an unlikely point in a 3-3 draw against Nice.
Corentin Jean opened the scoring for Troyes after three minutes but the lead was short-lived as, straight from the restart, Jonathan Pereira fouled Alassane Plea inside the penalty area. Hatem Ben Arfa made no mistake with the spot kick.
Plea put Nice in front after 16 minutes before drawing the foul that led to Chris Mavinga's second yellow card, and subsequent dismissal just after the half-hour mark.
Maxime Le Marchand headed the visitors into a two-goal lead before half-time but Fabien Camus' 25-yard strike gave Troyes hope and Xavier's rising shot earned them a point.
In other games, Kamil Grosicki's curled finish five minutes from time lifted Rennes to a 1-0 success over Montpellier while Angers and Nantes played out a goalless draw.
