Udupi, Aug 16: The Hindu Jana Jagriti Samiti staged a protest against recruitment of non-Hindu officials as Hindu temple trustees near service bus stand, Udupi, on Saturday August 15.
Vishwanath Nayak, president, Hindu Jana Jagriti Samiti, Udupi, addressing the protestors, said, “The Wakf Board and Haj committee are recruiting Muslim candidates as officials. In contrast, the Muzrai department has appointed non-Hindus in the office to supervise management of Hindu temples. As per the Karnataka Temple Act and appointment of person under Hindu religious institution law, every employee should be a Hindu in the management section. But still, there are non-Hindus working without respect for the law,” he added.
He demanded cancellation of recruitment of four Muslims and two Christians from the Muzrai department. “The concerned department has to take immediate action against those who violated the rule and should take stern action against those who support Yakub Memon,” said Nayak.
Members of the Hindu Jana Jagriti Samiti also demanded provision of a weapons license for Thelangana BJP MLA Rajsingh for the sake of self-protection. Srinivas Rao, Bhujanga, and Naveen Kumar were present.
