Mangalore, Jun 13: A mock drill on tackling chemical disaster will be held at MCF and NMPT here on Wednesday June 13 at 1.30 pm. The programme has been organized by the district administration.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday June 12, headquarters assistant A G Bhat informed that the entire mock drill would be videographed and the process will be monitored by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Departments like revenue, police, home guards, RTO, health, publicity, MCC, BSNL, zilla panchayat and others will take part in the drill. National Disaster Response Force of Pune, Suratkal primary health centre, Wenlock Hospital, KMC, A J Hospital and the district fire officer will also be involved, Bhat said.
Disaster Management Institute, Bhopal director Dr Paraksh Dubey, NDMA Training and Capacity Buildings specialist Brig Khanna, technical coordinator Dr Rakesh Sharma, CII representative Surendranath and NDMA senior research officer Raman Chawla will also participate.
He further said that the mock drill will aim at gauging the strength and weaknesses in managing a disaster.
A site control room at Kulur and an incident command post at Scouts Bhavan will be set as part of the drill. Thokur and Kenjar will be considered as the affected areas and 150 people will be evacuated to a relief camp set up at Kalavar, Bhat said.
