Suicide cases
One person was found dead at Urwa town on Wednesday, June 6 and it is suspected to have ended is as he was unable to sire a child.
The deceased person has been identified as Sachit Kumar (46). He was married 4 years ago and was depressed as he was unable to have a child of his own. A case has been registered at Urwa police station.
In another incident, a person was found dead hanging from a tree. This extreme step was understood to have been taken as he failed to repay the loan raised, for performing his daughter’s last rites. This incident occurred on Wednesday June 6, near Sharabatkatte ITI College.
The deceased person has been identified as Janardhan Poojary (54), a resident of Bejai.
Bantwal: Unruly group attacks youngster
A case has been registered at the Bantwal rural police station against an unruly group of four persons for assaulting person on Thursday June 7.
The injured person has been identified as Bharatraj (19), a resident of Pelapadi of Pudu village. He was attacked by a group of youth comprising of Nisar, Imran, Irfan and Asif when travelling in a autorickshaw from Kadegoli to Farangipete, at Maripalla.
Later, Bharatraj was taken to Bantwal government hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Two arrested for extracting precious stone
Forest conservation officials arrested 2 persons, involved recently in extracting precious stone from forest land from Kollamogru Kiribhaga, a reserve forest at Sulekeri in Sullia taluk.
During the raid, one Raghava Koraga was caught, while the other accused managed to escape from the spot. During interrogation Raghava Koraga revealed that he was selling the stolen stones to Mohammad, a trader at Kollamogru. Based on this information police raided Mohammad's shop. Later, Mohammad was also arrested along with 52kg of precious stones.
