Mangalore, Jun 9: The responsibility of increasing the number of trees is on every citizen, said KPTCL chief and district in-charge secretary Bharatlal Meena.

He was speaking at the inauguration of Eco Clubs at Pilikula Nisargadhama near here on Friday June 8. The programme was jointly organised by Pilikula Nisargadhama, KSPCB and KUIDC to mark the World Environment Day.

Stressing on the need to maintain a balance between ecology and development, he said that the present generation should strive to ensure that the next generation gets the natural heritage in the same status as it is now.

He appreciated the steps taken by Pilikula Nisargadhama in preserving the environment by starting Eco Clubs.

Books on nature brought out by KUDCEMP were presented to Government High School, Bunder, as part of Eco kit.

Among those present were deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, Pollution Control Board officer Ramesh and Pilikula Science Centre director K V Rao.
