Panaji, Jun 8: Congress legislator Digambar Kamat was on Friday sworn in Goa's 19th Chief Minister.
Kamat, the 54-year-old, hitherto power minister in the Congress government led by Pratapsinh Rane, was unanimously elected as the leader of Congress Legislature Party on Thursday night.

He became the compromise choice for the post after opinion among Congress MLAs were sharply divided on whether Pratapsinh Rane or Naik would become the Chief Minister.
Kamat had joined Congress just two years ago after quitting BJP. He had played a key role in engineering the downfall of the BJP-led government in Goa headed by Manohar Parikkar in 2005.
Goa Congress chief Ravi Naik, NCP legislator Jose Phillip D'Souza and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party legislator Ramakrishna were also sworn in along with Kamat.
