'Drishyam' mints Rs 46.28 crore in opening week


New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS): Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat's thriller drama "Drishyam", starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Shriya Saran, has minted Rs.46.28 crore in its first week.

Released on July 31, “Drishyam”, the official remake of the eponymous Malayalam film, earned an opening weekend collection of Rs.30.03 crore nett (Friday - Rs.8.5 crore, Saturday - Rs.9.40 crore and Sunday - Rs.12.13 crore).

It further garnered a steady inflow of collection and footfalls, recording Rs.4.05 crore (Monday), Rs.4.50 crore (Tuesday), Rs.4.10 crore (Wednesday) and Rs.3.60 crore (Thursday), totalling Rs.46.28 crore in seven days, read a statement from the production banner.

The story of “Drishyam” revolves around cable TV operator Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay), whose life revolves around cinema and his family; wife Nandini (Shriya) and daughters Anju and Anu. Tabu plays the role of police IG Meera Deshmukh in the film.
