Mangaluru, Aug 7: Confraternity Sunday was observed at St Dominic Church, Ashoknagar on August 2.
Confraternity Sunday manifesting the unity of parishioners and public worship of the eucharistic sacrament in a procession and sacramental blessing was observed with great devotion and fervour at St Dominic Church in preperation for the St Dominic feast.
The Confraternity mass was celebrated by Fr Daniel Veigas. At the end of the mass, the relic of St Dominic was honoured with novena prayers and blessings by Fr Claude Corda. Thereafter, the eucharistic sacrament was exposed and adored and carried on a grand eucharistic procession.
The blessed sacrament was carried by the parish priest Fr Aquin Noronha on a decorated van.
The procession moved along the road heading from the church, then towards Ashoknagar junction and on to Urwa Stores. Eventually the faithful assembled at the church for the final blessing. The entire surrounding area of Ashoknagar bore a festive mood. It was witnessed by and touched people of other faith too.
