Abu Dhabi, Aug 6 (IANS/WAM): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been ranked first globally as the largest aid donor to crisis-torn Yemen, a media report said on Thursday.
The figures released by the Financial Tracking Service (FTS), a UN-managed database which records international humanitarian aid contributions, showed that the total aid provided by the UAE was AED 508.7 million dirhams ($138.5 million) out of the overall global contribution of $449.5 million.
Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, minister for international cooperation and development, said the UAE will continue to support all those affected by humanitarian crises around the world.
The UN data has also revealed that the US aid to Yemen was at 16.6 percent and Britain at 10.3 percent.
