Sporting Lisbon withdraws from deal to sign Kevin-Prince Boateng


Lisbon, Aug 6 (IANS): Sporting Lisbon has withdrawn from the deal to sign Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince Boateng at the last minute over a disagreement about the distribution of the player's image rights.

The Portuguese club explained its decision through social networking sites on Wednesday, while it also wished the Ghanaian international its best wishes on a professional and personal level, reports Efe.

Sporting thus denied that the disagreement was due to the player's physical condition, as the Portuguese press had speculated.

The attacking midfielder was in Lisbon on Monday to finalise his move for the next two seasons, after he was left go last May from the German club Schalke 04.

The player, born in Berlin to a Ghanaian father, is has been connected to several controversies on and off the field.

Kevin-Prince has previously played for Hertha Berlin, Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund, Portsmouth, AC Milan and Schalke 04.
