New York, Aug 4 (IANS): The US has honoured two Indians who were killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan while they were working as security guards for an American government contractor last year.
Ponnappan Vengasseril Kuttappan and Raveendran Parambath were among six security personnel working for DynCorp International on behalf of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) who were killed in the attack by a motorcycle-riding suicide bomber on July 22 last year at Camp Gibson in Kabul, the State Department said in a press release.
"The Department is proud to recognise their service and sacrifice to our nation," it added.
Deputy Secretary Heather Higginbottom and INL Assistant Secretary William R. Brownfield placed a wreath at the INL memorial wall located within the State Department building on Monday to honour the two Indians.
