Mangaluru, Aug 3: Konkani natak sabha Mangaluru (KNS) organized 48th elocution competition at Don Bosco hall here on Sunday August 2. The competition was held in four categories – 5 to 10 years, 10 to 15 years, 15 to 30 years and above 30 years.
In the 5 to 10 years category, 17 competitors from 11 parishes took part in the competition. In the ladies' category Delisha Miranda from Moodibidri parish bagged first place, Riyona Lasrado from Ashoknagar parish won the second place and Riya Fiona D’Souza from Ashoknagar parish won the third place. In gents' category Lein Shawn Sequeira from Derebail parish bagged first place, Ethen Pinto from Cordel Parish won the second place and Daniel Martin Ignatius from Rosario Cathedral parish won the third place.
In the 10 to 15 years category, 25 competitors from 12 parishes took part in the competition. In ladies' category, Lisha Ann Pereira from Valencia parish Venciita Dias from Angelore parish and Nishel Flora Almeida from Cordel parish won first, second and third places respectively. In gents' category Anjelo Sucheth Noronha from Cordel parish, Rawl Samuel Noronha from Bajpe parish and Melroy Mendonca from Kirem parish won first, second and third places respectively.
In the 15 to 30 years, 16 competitors from 11 parishes took part in the competition. In the ladies' category Nishal Nivya Rodrigues from Ashoknagar parish, Ancita Carol D’Souza from Cordel parish and Preema D’Souza from Derebail parish won first, second and third places respectively. In gents' category, Loyston Fernandes from Milagres parish, Merwin Lobo from Gurpur parish and Vernon Crasta from Cordel parish won first, second and third places respectively.
In the above 30 years, 18 competitors from 12 parishes took part in the competition. In ladies' category Chris Evert D’Souza from Cordel parish, Edna Noronha from Cordel parish and Meena Pinto of Bajjodi parish won first, second and third places respectively. In gents' category Roshan Lasrado from Paldane parish, Jacob D’Souza from Bantwal parish and Cyril Fernandes of Paldane parish won first, second and third places respectively.
Marcel D’Souza, Flora Castelino and Felcy Lobo were the judges for the competitions.
President Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Dolphy Saldanha compered. Convenor Joseph Nazareth introduced the Judges. General Secretary Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks. Convenor Anil Lobo announced the results.
