Mumbai, Aug 3: Sixth annual general body meeting of St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, Mira Road was held on August 2 at Infant Jesus hall of St Joseph’s Church, Mira Road.
The meeting started with a prayer. Fr Melwyn D’cunha, OCD, parish priest of St Joseph’s Church was inducted as spiritual director of the association. President John Crasta, welcomed Fr Melwyn D’cunha by offering a bouquet.
During the meeting, Arun Noronha, secretary of the association, gave a brief report of the work carried out during the last year and the activities planned for the year 2015-2016.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Melwyn D’cunha, OCD said that he was very happy to see the growth of the association. In the year 1996-97, when he was assistant parish priest of the association, the need for the Konkani welfare association was felt for the welfare of Konkani language and to help the needy. Now the association has grown so much, it is a registered association. This is possible because of the selfless service rendered by the members of association. He said that by working together with a motto for the welfare of others the association can grow and help towards the betterment of the society.
