Bantwal, Jul 31: Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha and Hasiru Sene (KRRS) state secretary, Kumar Subrahmanya Shastri, said that the villagers will lay siege to the office of the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday August 4, to register their opposition against land acquisition ordinance, illegal mini hydel power project in River Kumaradhara, extension of Thumbe vented dam, and registration of criminal and civil suits against farmers for recovery of agricultural loans.
Addressing a press conference at Vittal on Thursday July 30, Shastri said that a huge procession will be led at 10.30 am that day from Jyoti Circle Mangaluru to the office of the DC. He added that the procession will be led by state president of KRRS, Kodihalli Chandrashekhar.
Hasiru Sene district working president, B Sridhar Shetty, pointed out that as against the government's claim that local people's representatives would be visiting the houses of farmers who committed suicide, none of these have visited such houses.
Honorary adviser of Hasiru Sene, Muruva Mahabal Bhat, district committee joint secretary, Raghava Poojary Hittilu,. and Thumbe Affected Farmers Action Committee secretary, N K Idinabba, were present.
