New Delhi, July 30 (IANS): French footwear designer Christian Louboutin, whose globally famous red soles added high-end spunk to Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee's show at Amazon India Fashion Week (AICW) 2015, said he was left mesmerised with the "civilised" form of couture in India.
“This is the first time that I am at any couture show in India and if this is what it is, then it is absolutely perfect. It is extremely civilised. Believe me, it's not exactly the same what is in my country,” Louboutin told reporters post the opening show by Mukherjee on Wednesday.
Couture in Paris is mostly known for wild, bold and downright puzzling styles with bright and striking colours, out-of-the box accessories and eccentric looks.
Louboutin, who had earlier collaborated for Indian designer Rohit Bal's show at an edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, was completely in awe of Mukherjee's presentation.
“I know the work created by Mukherjee, but I never attended his show. But his latest collection is simply fantastic. To me, it was a great experience because I barely attended any show in India. It was absolutely worth it to be here and attend this magnificence,” said the 52-year-old, who added sparkle to the front row guest list for the show.
Louboutin, who has a client list of some of the best dressed celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker, says he always works with people with whom he connects really well. So, Mukherjee was an obvious choice.
“He was in my Mumbai store and then we started talking about Kolkata. From there on, we became friends and that’s how our collaboration happened. I can only work with people with whom I can have a personal bond, and he was one of them,” said the designer.
Louboutin also says that he is open to work with the Indian designer if something interesting comes up.
“We already started to talk. He said that lot of things are possible in India and I will try to be at his level to make things possible and work accordingly,” he told IANS.
