Madrid, July 29 (IANS): Spanish football club Atletico Madrid has announced the signing of its former Brazilian international Filipe Luis for the next four seasons after his spending just one season with English side Chelsea.
"Welcome Filipe. Filipe Luis is a new player of Atletico Madrid. The red and white team and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the transfer of the winger," Atletico announced on Tuesday, reports Efe.
The winger left Atletico in July 2014 to join Chelsea where he played only 26 games, 22 in the starting line-up.
In his first era with the Spanish side, from 2010 to 2014, the 29-year-old was capped for 184 games and won five titles -- La Liga (2013-14), Copa del Rey (2012-13), Europe League (2011-12) and two European Super Cups (2010 and 2012).
Luis is the fifth deal for the 'Rojiblancos' this season after the signings of two strikers -- Colombian Jackson Martinez (Porto) and Argentine Luciano Vietto (Villarreal), Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco (Monaco) and Montenegrin central defender Stefan Savic (Fiorentina).
