Munich, July 28 (IANS): German football giants Bayern Munich have roped in Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal for a fee in the region of 40 million Euros.
Bayern had already announced that they had convinced Juventus of the deal but Vidal had to pass the medical on Tuesday before signing the dotted line.
".@kingarturo23 has signed a deal until 2019 with #FCBayern. More details soon. #ServusArturo," Bayern posted on Twitter.
The German club was in need of a heavyweight midfielder following Bastian Schweinsteiger departure to Premier League club Manchester United and Vidal seems to be the perfect fit.
"I'm very happy. This is a new step in my career and I hope I do well here. I want to help the team and win trophies. It's a dream come true for me personally," Vidal was quoted as saying by Bayern's website, fcbayern.de.
The 28-year-old Chilean had earlier plied his trade for Bayer Leverkusen in 2007 and is no stranger to the Bundesliga. Over his four year stint with Italian club Juventus, he won four Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia.
