Mangaluru, Jul 27: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike conducted a protest against the failure of the government to take action on the corruption in the Lokayukta and steps to check the increasing suicide by farmers here at DC office on July 27.
Addressing the gathering Rahim Uchil, distict convener said, "Today the government is protecting the corrupt Lokayukta. All the people of Karnataka want Lokayukta Bhaskar Rao to resign. The chief minister should have called the legal advisor and taken action against him but no efforts have been made in this direction. The chief minister has been silent on this issue. This clearly states that the CM had a share in the dealings of lokayukta Bhaskar Rao. Today the mediator who has been arrested in this case has given statements about the dealings. Based on his details action should be taken."
On the issue of suicides among farmers, he said, "Farmers are the backbone of the nation and today farmers are committing suicide. The government is just counting the number of farmers who have suicided. They have not found any solution to this. The chief minister and all the ministers should visit the farmers and try to convince them not to suicide. All the ministers are busy in their enjoyment. All of them should put aside their other programmes and visit the farmers. We are not against any political party. We have people from all parties in our organization. If there is something wrong in the government then we will protest. We respect all the political parties but we will always stand for justice. So we demand the government to take right steps in stopping farmers suicide and to take action against the Lokayukta."
Banner of chief minister Siddaramaih, home minister K J George and agricultural minister Krishna Byre Gowda were burnt at the protest.
Karnataka Rakshana Vedike leaders Manoj S R, Irshaad Ahmed, Koti Mallesha and others were present.
