Bengaluru, Jul 25 (DHNS): Lokayukta SP Sonia Narang filed a complaint with the Vidhana Soudha police on Friday against one V Bhaskar, who claims to be a journalist and is a suspect in the Lokayukta corruption scam, for making allegations of corruption against her.
A Kannada news channel has also been named in the FIR for airing the allegations.
Bhaskar is also reportedly part of Lokayukta Justice Bhaskar Rao’s son Ashwin’s extortion racket. Narang, a 2002-batch IPS officer, stated that after the incident of demand for bribe reported from the Lokayukta office in May, the initial probe had revealed names of several agents in the extortion racket.
One among them was V Bhaskar alias “420” Bhaskar.
“When the investigation was transferred to SIT, a report along with the names of other agents, including Bhaskar, was handed over. On July 23, I came to know about a TV channel airing Bhaskar's allegation that I have purchased an apartment for a throwaway price. I collected the soft copy of the telecast and ascertained that it was Bhaskar making all these allegations degrading my image,” the complaint stated.
On Friday, at around 4 pm, Narang filed the complaint with the Vidhana Soudha police station and an FIR was registered against the TV channel and Bhaskar.
DCP (Central) Sandeep Patil immediately rushed to the Vidhana Soudha police station and supervised the registration of the FIR.
The police have registered the FIR under Sections 506, 509 and 120 (b) of IPC.
“In the conversation, Bhaskar has made baseless allegations against me accusing me of purchasing three flats in the City. He also stated that she has some CCTV footage with her and will reveal it only at an appropriate time. All these allegations are being made because Bhaskar's role in the extortion racket was found. Since I have initiated an investigation into the extortion racket, the persons involved in this are trying to hurt my image in the eyes of the public,” the complaint stated.
