Kundapur, Jul 23: Some vehicle drivers from Koteshwar rescued a woman who was trying to somehow commit suicide. The incident occurred on Wednesday July 22 morning.

Some car drivers noticed that a married woman with a small female baby in her hand was roaming around the bus stand at Koteshwar near here on Wednesday morning. Sometime later, she removed her 'Mangalya' neck chain and offered it to a medical shop operator, demanding either poison or sleeping pills in exchange thereof.

By the time the drivers talked among themselves and came to the conclusion that she was mentally disturbed and hence referring her to a psychiatrist would be apt, the lady had gone missing from there. Upon searching for her, she was seen walking towards the pond of a temple there. They persuaded her against proceeding further. The vehicle drivers, along with local social activists and dignitaries, spoke to her and came to know that she belongs to Manuru Padukare near here and that she wanted to commit suicide with her baby because of persisting family problems.

Activists of a Mogaveera organization at Koteshwar then contacted her relatives over phone and asked them to come to Koteshwar. Her relatives came there, and took her away with the support of vehicle drivers and police personnel. Thereafter, drivers, social activists, and relatives of the lady met at Kota police station under which Kota Padukare falls, and settled differences between the lady and otherr family members amicably.
