Panaji, May 22: Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, along with his party workers, staged a dharna near the Gandhi Chowk at Old Goa on Tuesday morning, protesting against the arrest of his Janata Dal (S) party office-bearers by the election officers with the help of the Goa police two days ago.
Gowda criticized the present Rane government and blamed him for the controversy. Gowda also slammed the Goa police for the arrest.
Two days ago some 5 Janata Dal (s) party office-bearers were arrested by the election observers at the Bogmalo hotel at Vasco and had recovered unaccounted Rs 9 lac in cash.
The cops had later sealed the seized notes and arrested the guilty.
The former prime minister is in Goa for election campaigning for his party which is fighting for 12 seats in the forthcoming assembly elections scheduled on June 2.
