Bengaluru, Jul 21: Six farmers have ended lives on Monday, July 20 taking the death toll to 124 from the beginning of April.
Ningappa Kadoli ( 65) from Savadi in Belagavi district, Chandu Nanjegowda (35) from Krishnapura in Ramanagara district, Rangegowda (70) from K R Pete in Mandya district, Mallappa Gadakara(65) from Shurpali in Bagalkote district, N R Devananda (40) from Nidtha in Kodagu district and Maruthi Uddameese (57) from Harobelavadi in Dharwad district are the six farmers who ended their lives.
The total number of farmers who ended lives in the past 28 days has reached 92. During the legislative session 92 farmers have ended lives. The death toll in the new financial year stands at 124.
Only 23 farmers’ families have received compensation so far from the list of 124. Meanwhile on Monday JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy blamed the Congress party for the death of so many farmers in the state. He termed the Congress government as ineffective in stopping the deaths of farmers. He was speaking in the assembly during the no confidence motion moved against the chief minister Siddaramaiah. “The farmer who waited for two and half years is knocking the door of the death.” he said with emotions.
