New Delhi, July 17 (IANS): Delhi Dynamos FC on Friday retained the services of midfielder Hans Mulder for the second edition of the Indian Super League (ISL).

Mulder captained the team in the last season, when Dynamos failed to qualify for the semifinals and finished fifth in the eight-team tournament.

Dynamos have named Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos as their marquee player-cum-manager for the tournament starting on Oct 3.

"I am glad to be part of the club again. I really enjoyed playing for them last season and am extremely happy and excited to be back with Delhi Dynamos. I really look forward to working under Roberto Carlos and I am confident we will be champions this season," the 28-year old defensive midfielder of Dutch-Spanish origin said in a statement on Friday.

Carlos was equally excited at the development, saying: "I was extremely impressed by Hans after seeing his video of last season. He leads by example and gives it his all on the pitch. He is a perfect fit for our team with his ability to play across various positions in midfield."

Dynamos president Prashant Agarwal said Mulder has been a key member of the squad and hoped he will continue to inspire the team.

"We are delighted to have retained our captain from last Season of ISL. He has been a valuable member of Delhi Dynamos last season. Being one of the youngest captains in the ISL, we are certain of his quality. He comes with the experience of Season and will complement the squad very well," he said.
