Jul 17, (Mid-day): Former Mumbai Ranji Trophy team physio Dr Aijaz Ashai, who is currently attached with the Nepal national team, appeared in handcuffs at Ards Magistrates Court in Northern Ireland after spending a night in custody, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

Ashai was staying at the La Mon Hotel and Country House with the team which is in Ireland for the Twenty20 World Cup.

According to the report, a constable told the court a masseuse at the hotel said Ashai, "of Thakur Village, East Mumbai, India, had asked for a full body massage, and despite having been instructed to wear underpants, he attended without them."

The report added: "He (Ashai) told her (masseuse) he was suffering in the groin and buttock area," the constable continued, and "grabbed her hands and forced them between his legs, while in a state of arousal. The court heard it was alleged he later apologised to the masseuse, in front of a hotel manager, noting she was in distress, and offered a £10 tip, which was refused."

'Didn't grab her'

Belfast Telegraph also reported that Dr Ashai's lawyer admitted his client had the massage, but denied grabbing the masseuse's hands or being aroused. Judge Rice granted Dr Ashai bail for £2,500. The matter was adjourned to August 12.
