Belthangady, Jul 17: Parents of R Kavan (6), son of Rajesh from Janata Colony near Muddadi school, Venoor in the taluk on the evening of Wednesday July 15, who died after falling from a parked JCB there, have charged the doctors at Beltangady hospital of medical negligence.
The boy, who had gone up a JCB involved with mud clearing work at Janata Colony when the operator had gone away to take rest, had jumped down the machine. Because of error of judgement, he had fallen into a roadside ditch. He had suffered serious injuries, and was taken to a private hospital in the town. The boy suddenly became motionless once his treatment was started at the hospital, never to regain consciousness. The hospital later referred the boy to the government hospital at Mangaluru, where the doctors there said he was dead.
Mother of the boy says that the boy has suffered fracture of the hand, and that he was conscious and conversing with parents and others till he was taken to private hospital at Beltangady referred above. She says he was fearful when he was taken inside the check-up room. But the parents stayed outside. She alleged that the anesthesia administered at the hospital had taken away the life of her son, and has demanded investigation into the circumstances which led to her son's death.
In the meanwhile, the locals expressed anger at the fact that the panchayat had failed to do anything about the roadside ditch which posed danger to road users, and accounted for the life of the boy. They have demanded for filling it up immediately.
