Mangaluru, Jul 15: Former district in charge minister J Krishna Palemar conducted a press meet here on July 15 and alleged that nominations for Gurpur panchayat elections were called twice which he said was against the law.
Palemar said, "Nominations were called for the post of chairman and vice chairman for Gurupur panchayat. Nominations were filled by our BJP supported candidates on June 22, but Congress supported candidates boycotted the nominations. But nominations were filed on that day. A notice was given to all the members again to file nominations on July 13. Accordingly when our members went there on July 14, the official was not present since he had gone to Bengaluru. Calling for the nominations twice is against the law. Officials have been misused in this case.
"Congress supported candidates had boycotted the nomination because there is repeat in the reservation. But calling for nomination is against the rules as there is no as such provision. Action should be taken against the officials who have done this unlawful act," he said
Shankar Bhat, former mayor, Narayana Gatti, BJP district chief and Sathish Prabhu were present.
