Mangaluru, Jul 12: Five unidentified persons barged into a house at Bondel here on the night of Saurday July 11 and robbed a home-alone woman after allegedly assaulting and gagging her. The incident came to light on Sunday July 12.
The robbery took place at PWD quarters, Bondel, where A Radha (58) has been staying. Radha works as a stenographer in the commercial tax department, and stays alone.
It is learnt that at around 9 pm, five persons came to Radha's house and said that their car had met with an accident and they needed water. Radha, without opening the door, told them to take water that was in a bucket in the compound. However, they refused and insisted that they needed water to drink.
Radha then brought them water, but when she opened the door a litle to hand it over, the five men allegedly pushed open the door fully and barged inside. They then allegedly assaulted, tied her up and gagged her.
The five also spent the night in the house and left only in the early morning, taking away a gold chain, a gold ring, three mobile phones and Rs 35,000 cash.
After the robbers left, Radha managed to untie herself and approached Thimmayya, her colleague who lives in the same neighbourhood and narrated the incident. Thimmayya then informed the police and admitted Radha to hospital.
Kavoor police arrived at the spot along with canine squad and fingerprint experts.

Radha's husband passed away in March this year. She is basically from Madikeri.
