Southwest monsoon resumes in Karnataka


Bengaluru, July 11 (IANS): The southwest monsoon has resumed in coastal Karnataka while remaining weak over northern Karnataka, the Met Office said on Saturday.

The met department has forecast rain and thundershowers at most places in coastal Karnataka, southern Karnataka and at isolated places in northern Karnataka.

The weather department has advised the fishermen to stay off the sea as strong winds with a speed of up to 45-55 km per hour are likely along and off the Karnataka coast.

Bengaluru city will experience a cloudy sky along with rain in some places, officials said.

On Friday, the city received 17.6 mm rainfall.

The maximum temperature on Saturday would hover around 28 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature would be around 20 degrees Celsius, officials said.

The state capital recorded a maximum temperature of 28.8 degrees Celsius on Friday, one notch above the season's average while the minimum temperature matched the season's average at 20.2 degrees Celsius.
