Mangaluru, Jul 10: Lourdes Central School hosted an interschool shuttle badminton championship in the under 14 category for Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts, ICSE and CBSE schools at U S Mallya Indoor Stadium, Mannagudda, Mangaluru on Friday July 10 at 9.00 am.

The inaugural ceremony was conducted at 9.00 am. Ashok Pooviah former international badminton player was the chief guest. Fr Wilson Vitus L D'souza manager Lourdes Central School, Fr Robert D'souza, principal of Lourdes Central School, Charlotte Patrao, secretary Bejai parish council and Belita Mascarenhas, vice principal of LCS were present.

The prayer song was led by the students of LCS with the guidance of music maestro Ivan Mascarenhas.
Principal, Fr Robert D'souza welcomed and introduced the chief guest.

The chief guest along with the dignitaries lit the lamp and the tournament convenors led the dignitaries to inaugurate the tournament by playing across the net and open the event.

The chief guest welcomed the budding sportsmen from various schools of Mangaluru and D K with the spirit of sportsmanship.

The chief referees Gautham Shetty and Chethan Sagar took charge of the tournament.

29 teams took part in the tournament in the under 14 category for both boys and girls.

20 boys teams and 9 girls teams participated.
