Kundapur, Jul 10: State home minister, K J George, has said that a special investigation team has been formed for unravelling the mystery behind the death of a PU student of Shirur government PU College in the taluk, Ratna Kottary, on July 9, 2014.
The minister gave this information in reply to a question raised by MLC from the region, K Pratapchandra Shetty, on this subject.
Shetty had pointed out that even after a year of the student's death, there has been no progress in the investigation, and wanted to know from the department of home about the steps taken by it to reach to the bottom of this case.
The minister, at the same time, gave details of steps undertaken by his department, adding that out of 14 murders which occurred in 2012, the department has solved 13 cases, while investigation in all the 20 murder cases of 2013 have been successfully completed.
"In 2014, there were 23 murders in Udupi district, out of which 18 have been solved. In 2015, 13 were murdered till June, and all these cases have been solved," he stated.
