Udupi, Jul 9: Prabhakar Bhat (54), a resident of Mayagundi Math at Santhekatte here, committed suicide at his home. It is said that he was suffering from psychological and eyesight problems.
Bhat had been immobile since the last about two months. He did not attend his work and stayed back home. Surgery was conducted on one of his eyes because of problems about a month back. On Tuesday, surgery was conducted on the same eye again.
Bhat and other family members went to bed at around 11 pm on Tuesday July 7. On Wednesday morning, it was seen that Bhat was hanging from a ceiling fan, but his hand was shaking. He was immediately taken to a private hospital at Manipal, where the doctors conducted tests and declared him brought dead.
A case of unnatural death was registered in the town police station here relating to this incident.
