Mangaluru, Jul 9: In yet another case of cattle trafflicking, the Barke police on Thursday July 9 morning intercepted a tempo traveller and seized 17 cattle that were reportedly being taken to the slaughter house at Kudroli.
It is said that based on prior information, the police along with some locals lay in wait for the vehicle at Kulur, but they could not stop it as it passed by them.
A separate police team then intercepted the tempo traveller near New Chitra Talkies and seized the vehicle. Two persons who were inside managed to escape.
Among the 17 cattle found inside the vehicle, one was dead.
The Barke police took the vehicle and cattle to the police station. Further investigations are on.
Police sources said that about two days ago, locals had filed a complaint about cattle trafficking in the area, and based on their complaint, the police carried out this operation.
