Mangaluru, Jul 7: On Monday July 6, police personnel of city crime branch (CCB) arrested two persons, who have been accused of going underground after getting involved with murder attempt and chain snatching cases.
The arrested accused are Rahim alias Chappetanni Rahim, and Muneer.
Rahim has been accused of fleeing after stabbing Mohan alias Tikki Mohan, when the latter was having tea near Lady Goschen Hospital in the city on May 24. A complaint about the incident had been lodged. Based on reliable information, policemen went to the salt dock at Bunder here and took Rahim into custody.
Reportedly, he is involved with some other cases including ganja trafficking. In the past, he was jailed for selling ganja. He was handed over to Bunder police station.
Muneer from Shantigudde has been accused of snatching gold chains worn by woman in the city. He was arrested by CCB police on Monday from near the KSRTC bus stand at Bijai here. His accomplice, Habib Hassan, already stands arrested. Muneer was entrusted to city (south) police station.
Deputy police commissioner (law and order), K M Shantaraj, and CCB inspector, Valentine D'Souza made these arrests under the orders of city police commissioner, S Murugan.
