Mangaluru, Jun 30: The Red Cross Wing of Laxmi Memorial College of nursing, Mangaluru in collaboration with Sri Ramakrishna College on behalf of World blood donors’ day organized a blood donation awareness programme at Sri Ramakrishna College, Mangaluru on June 26.
Red Cross program officer Shambhavi unveiled the theme of World blood donors’ day 2015; ‘Thank you for saving life’. Chief guest of the programme Dr Aravind P associate professor of department of pathology, A J Medical College in his speech highlighted the need for blood donation and benefits of blood donation to the donors.
The principal of Laxmi Memorial College of nursing Dr Larissa Martha Sams addressed the gathering. Blood donor, Karunakar M who donated blood 51 times at various blood banks of hospitals motivated the students to donate blood for whom it is needed. Blood recipients from various places expressed their gratitude to the donors.
The correspondent, Krishnaprasad Rai and principal Dr Naveen Shetty K of Sri Ramakrishna College in their speeches also motivated the youth to donate blood.
Reshma Shetty, Red Cross program officer of Sri Ramakrishna College was present.
At the end of the program a quiz on blood donation was conducted by the the members of the Red Cross wing of Laxmi Memorial College of nursing.
