Miller named in WICB Corporate Governance Committee


St. John's (Antigua), June 25 (IANS): Caribbean corporate executive Dodridge Miller has been appointed to the Corporate Governance and Nominations Committee of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

Miller, the president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Sagicor Financial Corporation for the last 12 years, joins WICB president Dave Cameron, vice-president Emmanuel Nanthan, chief executive Michael Muirhead and corporate secretary Verlyn Faustin on the committee. President of the Caribbean Court of Justice Dennis Byron serves as chairman, reports CMC.

"We are quite fortunate to have someone with the knowledge, background and expertise of Dodridge, agree to serve West Indies cricket in this way," Cameron said Wednesday.

"We recognise that good governance and strong, responsible, balanced leadership are going to be critical to creating long-term organisational success and so we are grateful for the time that Dodridge is taking to help guide us on this path of restoring West Indies cricket as a successful brand."

Miller brings to his role a background in strategic management, international business development, and strong experience in the insurance and financial services industries. He is chairman or director of several regional and international financial businesses.

According to the WICB, the Corporate Governance and Nominations Committee "assist the directors in organising themselves to discharge their duties and responsibilities properly and effectively".
