Stanford (US), Jun 24 (IANS): Under attack from Congress over his remarks on financial dealings between Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's son and former IPL chief Lalit Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Tuesday that his remarks had been misinterpreted but assured authorities in India would continue to do their job in connection with the ongoing probes.
Jaitley said in answer to a query there had been "a clear misinterpretation" of his remarks.
Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad had on Monday attacked Jaitley over his remarks in the US that financial dealings between Raje's son and BJP MP Dushyant Singh and Lalit Modi were "commercial transactions", contending that these would influence the Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe.
Lalit Modi is facing allegations of alleged tax evasion and is being probed by the ED.
The Congress had alleged that Ananda Heritage Hotels Private Limited (AHHPL), a company owned by Modi, had invested Rs.11.63 crore in Niyant Hotels Private Limited, of Dushyant Singh through an "unsecured loan and purchase of Rs.10 share at a premium of Rs.96,190 each" and the dealings cannot be termed as a simple commercial transaction.
