Bengaluru, Jun 23: 'A large number of poor children do not given a square meal a day even now. How can celebrated Kannada novelist, S L Bhyarappa, be so insensitive to the plight of these hungry people? Does he have no humane feelings?' wanted to know former union minister, B Janardhana Poojary.
Poojary's angry retort came when he was addressing a press conference held here on Monday June 22.
'I had to make do with one shorts when attending school. I did not have a shirt. I used to wait till the only shorts i had get dry after they were washed, for wearing them again. I used to get enticed at dishes rich people ate, and the shoes rich people wore. How can Bhyrappa say that 'Anna Bhagya' scheme makes people lazy? If he cannot understand the plight of the poor, he is well advised to visit villages and look at the condition himself,' Poojary stated.
He wondered as to whether Bhyrappa was advised by RSS to oppose Anna Bhagya scheme. He was curious to know whether De Jaware Gowda was asked by Deve Gowda to criticize this excellent scheme.
'When I, as deputy finance minister of the union government, had introduced loan schemes for poor people, these people had criticized me. But I did not pay two hoots. I advise Siddaramaiah likewise, not to fall prey to such criticisms,' he added.
