Dubai: Suratkal parishioners celebrate Sacred Heart of Jesus feast

Dubai, Jun 18: Suratkal parishioners residing in the UAE were in for another day of fun and entertainment at the ESPA family feast 2015 on June 12 at the India Club, Dubai.
























The family feast was held to celebrate the feast of the sacred heart of Jesus who is the patron of the Surathkal parish. ESPA is the association of Suratkal parishioners residing in the UAE. It was formed in 2010.

The programme began with prayer and lighting of the lamp by the advisors of ESPA Charles Aranha, Godfreey Misquith, Valerian Dalmaida, William Sequeira and Ashok D’souza the immediate past president.

Vincent Misquith, vice president welcomed the gathering and mentioned that the objective of ESPA was bringing all the Suratkal parishioners together. ESPA conducts 3 programmes every year – the family picnic, carol singing and the celebration of the feast of sacred heart of Jesus.

A video showing the journey of 5 years of ESPA was shown and it was nice to go down memory lane.
Avil Pinto, joint secretary read out the prayerful greetings sent by the parish priest of Suratkal Fr Anthony Lobo.

ESPA advisor Valerian Dalmaida spoke on the occasion. He mentioned that ESPA has completed 5 years and explained about how the association was running. He asked the members to come up with suggestions and to pass them on to the committee members.

There was entertainment galore with well know Band Eagles at their very best. Joshal, Melwyn and Prashant mesmerized the gathering with a variety of melodious Konkani numbers. Also the Baila session at the end of the programme sent everyone onto the dance floor to the Baila beats of Eagles.

A surprise attraction of the show was mimicry my Melwyn D’souza. The audience was spell bound by the talent of Melwyn D’souza of Band Eagles.

Singer Lancy Noronha sang some Tulu songs which were well appreciated by the audience.

ESPA members Calvina Pinto, Rohan D’souza and Desmond D’souza also sang songs.

There was an instrumental performance by the Riyan Pinto on violin and Olan Pinto on the keyboard.
Dances were performed by Aaron Misquith, Alston Misquith, Athan D’souza, Ashel D’souza, Feanna D’souza , Lanisha Noronha, Lennon D’souza, Leora D’souza, Samantha Angel, Nicole, Ashlin Crasta and Lanita Noronha. All children are students of Arun Lobo of Feet Beat Group, Karama. Dances were appreciated by all.

ESPA programme is not complete without comedy skits. Deepak D’souza and Wilson Serrao along with Louis D’souza, Rohan, Cleeta Sequeira and Avinash D’souza left the audience laughing and enjoying their acting.

Spot games were conducted and prizes were distributed by Leena Pinto, Jerry D’souza and Romoola D’souza.

President of ESPA Roydon Roche and treasurer Vineeth Cutinho conducted the draw for the lucky entry coupons.

The stage was well decorated by Christopher Menezes who was assisted by the other ESPA members.
The sumptuous lunch was enjoyed by all.

The whole programme was well organized thanks to the compere Avinash D’souza who did a good job with his oratory skills. The audience did not find any minute boring. It was an afternoon full of entertainment for them.

The enterprising secretary of ESPA, Clara Pinto proposed the vote of thanks and thanked each and everyone who strived to do their best to make the event a memorable one.
