Udupi, Jun 15: Three brothers, residents of Kodangi, Parkala were allegedly assaulted late night on Sunday June 14 by a group of around 15 persons reportedly led by former CMC president Dinakar Shetty Herga.
All 15 including Dinakar Shetty were arrested by evening of Monday June 15 and booked under Section 307 of the IPC, and would be produced before the judge, police sources said. Shetty is now a member of Udupi CMC.

It is alleged that the group led by Dinakar Shetty Herga Prakash Shetty, Satish and others barged into the house of Peter D'Souza and his brothers Boniface and Anthony and assaulted them on Sunday night over an issue related to the movement of a JCB belonging to Boniface. The group reportedly opposed the fact that the JCB passes through the public road regularly and thus causes it to deteriorate.
Peter, Anthony and Boniface were then admitted to different hospitals.
The police had initially arrested eight persons in this connection and the locals had alleged that Dinakar Shetty was only questioned and released. By evening he was also arrested along with the rest.
Meanwhile, in a counter case, it has been alleged that when a person identified as Akshith Shetty was riding in his bike, Boniface, Peter and Anthony along with the JCB driver waylaid him near the Kodangi temple and assaulted him. It is alleged that while Petere pushed Akshtih, the others attacked him with weapons. Akshith has also been admitted to hospital.
SP Annamalai visited the hospitals.
Some of the organization in Udupi have a planned a protest against the attack on the brothers, sources said.
Manipal police have registered cases from both the sides and investigation is on.
